The San Antonio Spurs are not used to losing, but they have been doing a whole lot of it this year.

At just 6-13, which included an eight-game losing streak they eventually snapped against the New York Knicks, the Spurs are in genuine danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 1997, which was before they even drafted Tim Duncan.

But in spite of San Antonio's struggles, guard Patty Mills says the team can't get discouraged:

“[We need] to still enjoy what we are doing, still enjoy doing it with each other and have fun,” said Mills, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “That’s what we need at this point. You can’t always do it, but that’s what we need – try to find an enjoyment in playing with each other.”

Mills is one of only two players on the Spurs who were on the 2014 championship team, with the other being Marco Belinelli.

Since joining San Antonio during the summer of 2012, Mills has won a title, been to two NBA Finals (although he did not play during the first appearance in 2013) and was part of a 67-win team in 2016.

So, naturally, this is a trying time for the veteran, but if anyone knows how to keep a locker room together, it's him. After all, he learned from Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker as a youngster.

Mills is enjoying a terrific individual season, as he is averaging 11.4 points over 22.6 minutes per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent from 3-point range and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Unfortunately, that hasn't resulted in a lot of wins.
