Rapper Snoop Dogg spoke with ex-San Antonio Spurs star small forward Kawhi Leonard and says there was a lot of “disrespect in that locker room towards” Leonard last season.

Leonard only played in nine games in 2017-18 due to a lingering quadriceps injury. Veterans Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili reportedly led a players-only meeting in which Spurs players asked Leonard whether he planned to return. Parker also told the media his quad injury was “a hundred times worse” than the ailment Leonard dealt with.

Kawhi requested a trade from the Spurs last summer and is now one win away from leading the Toronto Raptors to the 2019 NBA Finals.

Leonard was the 2014 Finals MVP when the Spurs defeated LeBron James and the Miami Heat. He established himself as arguably the best two-way player in the NBA with San Antonio. Snoop Dogg says the Spurs should have treated Leonard with more respect and that the three-time All-Star might still be in San Antonio if the players in the locker room weren't speaking negative about him.

During the regular season with the Raptors, Leonard showed everyone he's still one of the top basketball players in the world. He averaged 26.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 60 games. As all superstars do, Leonard has taken his game to another level in the 2019 playoffs. The Spurs, meanwhile, got eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets in seven games.
