San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is coming off an incredible debut NBA season. The 7'4″ center won the Rookie of the Year Award after his stout two-way showing. Moreover, Wembanyama was one of the most highly-touted NBA Draft prospects of all time, and he received a jaw-dropping take from 2024 elite Alex Sarr.

Like Wembanyama, fellow French native Alex Sarr is a top NBA Draft prospect with some analysts expecting him to go first overall in 2024. Sarr sat down with a reporter and discussed Wembanyama's comparison to other NBA stars.

The reporter read off a list of names, and Sarr was told to say something when there was a name that was better than Wembanyama. Sarr skipped over Rudy Gobert, Chet Holmgren, and Draymond Green, signifying he thinks Wembanyama is already better than them, as shown by Bleacher Report:

Sarr waited until the reporter read off Bam Adebayo's name to stop her and claim that Wembanyama still had work to do before the surpassed the Miami Heat center. Alex Sarr clearly thinks highly of Wembanyama. It is hard to argue with him when reflecting on the Spurs center's debut NBA season.

Wembanyama averaged 21.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and a league-leading 3.6 blocks through 69 games of the 2023-24 season. As a result, he won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award and a First-Team All-Defensive honor.

As time goes on, Wembanyama looks to take his game to a higher level. Alex Sarr wants to make his mark on the NBA as well.

Will Alex Sarr follow in Spurs center Victor Wembanyama's footsteps?

At 7'1″ with a 7'4″ wingspan, Alex Sarr can cover ground like few can. Offensively, he can play on the perimeter or the post. The 19-year averaged 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game with the NBL's Perth Wildcats. In addition, he shot 50 percent from the field along with 27.6 on three-pointers.

Sarr's outstanding defensive upside has some scouts projecting him to be the best prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft class. Will he make a similar impact as Wembanyama?

Players and analysts claim that Wembanyama has GOAT (Greatest of All Time) potential. Chicago Bulls forward Lonzo Ball praised the Spurs center's rare defensive ability and dropped an eye-opening take for Wembanyama's future.

“[Victor Wembanyama] might be the best defensive player we’ve ever seen…He has a chance to be the best player ever, potentially. I'll say that right now,” Ball said via The WAE Show.

Similarly, 2024 NBA Draft prospect Rob Dillingham gave Wembanyama props for his early impact in the league when he was asked about potentially playing with him on the Spurs.

“That was the craziest first year in a long time,” Dillingham said about Wembanyama's historic rookie numbers, via the San Antonio Express. “He could be one of the best players ever. If I’m playing with Wemby, it’s obvious: I am coming in to give Wemby the ball.”

The praise for Victor Wembanyama is nonstop. It will be interesting to see how he performs during his second NBA season. Moreover, fans are excited to see what fellow countryman Alex Sarr can do once he enters the league as well.
