It's clear there's a disparity in talent between the NBA's Eastern and Western Conferences, and new San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay has a perfect, albeit funny, analogy to highlight it.

This offseason featured a number of trades which greatly altered the balance between the two conferences. All-Star players like Jimmy Butler, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony all moved to the West through trade. And while Kyrie Irving stayed in the East with his move to Boston, the only big-name player to jump to the said conference was Gordon Hayward.

There's also Golden State in the West who, despite not making any major acquisition, managed to keep their core of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.

The difference in talent is quite huge, to say the least, and Gay thinks it makes the East look like the old World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the West, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) — now the WWE.

Gay's comparison, of course, makes sense given that WCW struggled to compete for ratings against the WWF back in the day. WCW was even left near bankruptcy before it was purchased by WWF owner Vince McMahon in 2001.

While this uneven landscape in the NBA needs to be addressed, it's unlikely to change in the upcoming 2017-18 season.

As a result, Rudy Gay is certainly in for a tough competition after joining the Spurs on a two-year deal. Though, it might just be exactly what he wants as he plans to “have the best comeback ever.”
