Find out when the Switch release date of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be, and what we know so far about the game's contents and modes.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed Switch Release Date: April 20, 2022

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will make its Switch debut on April 20, 2022. Developed by LucasArts, the game had originally launched on PlayStation3, Playstation2, PSP, DS, Xbox 360, and Wii back in September 2008. Since then, both EA and Disney have had their share of Star Wars releases, with the franchise adopting a licensing system for the games.

The Switch edition of The Force Unleashed will offer unique game modes including two-player duels between Jedi and Sith characters. This offline multiplayer mode lets players choose from a cast of 27 characters, with the game supporting motion controls as well. Using the Nintendo joy-con controller, players can unleash destructive Force Powers (hence the name of the game) and lightsaber combos in tribute to the original Wii version. The electrifying graphics will accordingly be on full display on the Switch.

As for the story, The Force Unleashed is set between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. You get to play as Starkiller (also called Galen), Darth Vader's “secret apprentice”, destroying all enemies in your path to do Lord Vader's bidding. Trained to hunt and destroy the Jedi masters, players will traverse the Star Wars galaxy, exploring unique worlds like Cloud City or junk planet Raxus Prime. Throughout the game, you get to make choices that would swing Starkiller towards the Light side, or stray farther into the Dark.
