Ben Roethlisberger has been the Pittsburgh Steelers' franchise quarterback for years. However, things may change soon as the latest news about his injury surfaces.
According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the entire Steelers locker room has been aware of the elbow injury that took Big Ben out of their game against the Seattle Seahawks.
It's been confirmed after the game that the team will have their QB undergo an MRI to determine the injury's severity. Depending on the injury, the Roethlisberger can be out of the lineup for months.
Big Ben has always been effective whenever he plays healthy. He played in every game of the 2018 season and saw him lead the NFL in passing yards with 5129. That was an indication to everyone else that he can still play with the best of them on the gridiron.
Bleacher Report's Tyler Conway presented a fact that means trouble for Roethlisberger's NFL career:
No stranger to the injury report, Roethlisberger has missed at least one game in three of the previous four seasons. He has played in all 16 games only three times over the past decade and was playing in his 218th game since debuting in 2014.
The injury has clearly affected his game, throwing 8/15 and 75 yards. If this injury gets any worse, it may be possible that we've seen the last of Big Ben as the Steelers' first-choice passer.
Fortunately, they have a capable replacement in Mason Rudolph. The Steelers' third-round pick of the 2018 Draft showed that he can hold down the fort in Roethlisberger's absence, throwing for 112 yards and two TDs.
Steelers fans will be hoping that their star QB won't be out for too long or they will have a horrible season in their hands.
