The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially heading into a brand new era following the retirement of long-time quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. While there has been lots of speculation as to what the team could do in regards to their QB situation, GM Kevin Colbert laid out their plan on Monday.

Via Brooke Pryor of ESPN:

“We know we’re going to add to the position. I can’t tell you how at this point. We will go to camp with four. If we had to start today with Mason as our starter, let’s go. We’ll try to build the best team around him.”

The Steelers currently have two quarterbacks on the roster, if they tender Dwayne Haskins, which is expected. Mason Rudolph, as Colbert said, is expected to head into camp as the starter, but they will be looking to add reinforcements whether it's through free agency or in the draft.

Rudolph has limited experience as a QB1, starting just 10 games in his career. In 2019, the 26-year-old made eight starts. In 17 appearances so far in his NFL tenure, Rudolph has thrown for 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Steelers have also been linked to Liberty standout signal-caller Malik Willis, but they might have to trade up to get him in the draft.

It's going to be an interesting offseason ahead for Pittsburgh, to say the least.
