The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Chargers, 41-37, in Week 11 on Sunday Night Football. While the Steelers were dealing with some injuries, head coach Mike Tomlin admitted something shocking about the team's coaching staff.

To be clear, the Steelers were without safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker T.J. Watt on Sunday night versus a tough Chargers offense. That's a significant amount of defensive muscle to be without, though Mike Tomlin is saying that the defensive game plan wasn't up to snuff when it needed to be because of those absences.

That's a big statement, and one that Steelers fans certainly don't want to hear following that tough loss against the Chargers. It's highly unlikely that Tomlin will go the route of Joe Judge and fire defensive coordinator Keith Butler, though he certainly isn't pleased with Butler's game plan.

Tomlin specifically noted the lack of creativity in the gameplan, noting that the Steelers generated almost no pass rush and rarely blitzed without Watt in the lineup against Los Angeles. Pittsburgh has one of the best pressure rates but also one of the lowest blitz rates in the NFL, suggesting they're able to get to the quarterback with just their defensive front.

The Steelers should be just fine once they get those defensive starters back in the lineup. However, the sour taste from this past week's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers isn't likely to go away, especially after the comments Mike Tomlin made.
