Amid the firing of Jay Gruden, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been linked to the same job for the Washington Redskins. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, that is not going to happen.

For Washington to make Tomlin their head coach — who has two years left on his Pittsburgh deal –, the team would have to make a massive offer. They would also have to give Tomlin a contract so good that he would be foolish to turn it down, according to Schefter's sources.

Neither of which is going to happen,” one source close to the situation told ESPN, per Schefter. “I don't see Mike going to Washington. That is so far-fetched. It's so far out there. It would have to be a deal that the league never has seen before and would change the way business is done in football, and I don't see that happening.”

Though Tomlin may be souring on Steelers faithful amid a 1-4 2019 start, he remains one of the most accomplished coaches in the NFL. Since taking over in 2007, he has never had a losing record and has made two Super Bowls, winning one. Pittsburgh's slow start is hardly all on the coach either, as the team has dealt with a litany of injuries.

Nonetheless, if the Steelers continue to falter, a change may be in-store. If so, trading him to Washington would the logical choice.

Doing so would probably allow them to recoup draft capital lost in trades to acquire Devin Bush and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
