The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a busy offseason so far, and the major changes that they have made involve the quarterback position. The Steelers will have a new face under center next season as Kenny Pickett is gone, and Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are now with the Steelers. Wilson is coming over from the Denver Broncos and Fields is coming from the Chicago Bears. Both players didn't meet expectations with their former teams, but they are getting another chance with the Steelers.

It's unclear who the starting QB will be for the Steelers next season as Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will battle it out for the starting job, but most people think that Wilson will win it. Patrick Peterson is one of those people that thinks it will be Wilson.

Patrick Peterson played for the Steelers last year, but he was released by the team a couple of months ago. When the Steelers signed Wilson, he texted Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin, and he took a shot at the past QBs that the Steelers had.

“I even texted [Mike Tomlin] right after they signed Russell [Wilson],” Peterson said, according to an article from Behind The Steel Curtain. “I said, ‘Now you finally got you a quarterback that has credibility. A guy who’s going to be in the lineup that you can count on. Being in the lineup week in and week out. Now [it] is going to be putting the right pieces around him.’ They have the pieces for Russell to be successful.”

Peterson seemed to take a shot at Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky with that comment. It's no secret that the QB position was one that the Steelers struggled with, and Peterson was happy to see that they had someone new coming in. Wilson is certainly the favorite to be the starter next year in Pittsburgh, but Fields is going to give it his all in the QB battle.

Russell Wilson vs. Justin Fields

Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both coming to the Steelers with a lot to prove. Things didn't work out for Wilson with the Broncos, and things didn't work out in Chicago for Fields. However, the edge that Wilson has over Fields is that he has shown that he can be a top QB in the NFL. When Wilson was in Seattle, he was one of the best QBs in the game, and that's why it was such a shock to see things go down hill for him in Denver. Still, that level of play is still in there, and Wilson needs to find it.

Fields on the other hand hasn't really proven anything in his NFL career yet. The Bears wanted to build their team around him and they wanted him to be their franchise QB, but things just didn't pan out. They had the opportunity to draft a generational talent in Caleb Williams in this year's draft, and they took advantage of the opportunity. Fields was a stud in college, but he has yet to show that skill at the pro level.

It seems like Russell Wilson will likely end up winning this starting job, but you never know. Both him and Justin Fields are capable guys with a lot of talent, so we'll see who can rise to the occasion.
