Ahead of his Pittsburgh Steelers debut, three-time All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson is looking into his crystal ball and making some bold predictions.

The Steelers host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Peterson said on his podcast All Things Covered that Pittsburgh's defense has watched the film and might even know what play San Francisco is going to run before it happens.

“There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we're gonna get from those guys in certain situations,” Peterson said. “When I get my pick Sunday, we'll talk about it.”

Peterson sure sounds confident that he'll start his Steelers tenure with a bang and get a takeaway off 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Peterson notched five interceptions last season, his most since 2012 when he had seven.

Purdy, who grew up an Arizona Cardinals fan and watched Peterson turn in some memorable moments, took the 49ers' starting job and ran with it last season. He went 5-0 as a starter in the regular season and threw only four interceptions in 9 total games, two of them coming in starts.

Peterson had some praise for Purdy as well.

“He's able to put the football where it needs to go,” Peterson said. “He's a guy that's not going to make many mistakes. He's a guy who's going to take what the defense gives him and allow his defense to put him in a better position.”

It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds on Sunday. As if they weren’t already, all eyes will be on Brock Purdy, including those of Patrick Peterson and the entire Steelers defense.
