The Washington Football Team sent shockwaves across the league after it dealt the Pittsburgh Steelers its very first loss of the season.

Steelers legend Rocky Bleier gave his two cents on why his former squad lost to Washington. The 4-time Super Bowl champ gave his props to Washington, but he emphasized Pittsburgh's need to be more aggressive on their running game, via Matthew Marczi of Steelers Depot:

“Washington stopped the run, and do not think that it would have been any better if Conner was healthy”, the Steelers legend added. “They beat us at the line of scrimmage. They had great pursuit, and aggressive coverage”.

“To win football games, you have to control the football, eat up the clock”, Bleier, a Steelers legend, said. “You do that by running the ball. What you have to understand is that having a running game is a mindset. It’s imposing your will on your opponent, constantly coming off the ball, hitting and driving, hitting and driving, hitting and driving, until you wear him down. Then you’ve got a running game. We don’t have a running game. Not when you have four tries and can’t punch it over for a score.”

The 4-time Super Bowl champ certainly knows what he's talking about.

The Steelers looked like they were on their way to their 12th win after they raced out to a 14-0 lead. However, Washington poured it on in the second half with Alex Smith dropping 20 points after the intermission.

Pittsburgh certainly struggled on Monday night, going for just 21 yards on 13 carries. After winning 11 straight to begin the year, the Steelers would need to take a look at what went wrong against Washington to bounce back from their first defeat.
