Mike Tomlin has been the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the past decade and a half now. And while he hasn't gotten his team over the hump ever since winning it the Super Bowl with Ben Roethlisberger in Year 2, there's a reason he's stuck around for this long.

First and foremost, he's obviously a savant in the game of football. But one other reason has been the relationships he's made and respect he has garnered from his players, both past and present. Steelers backup quarterback Mason Rudolph spoke candidly on The Rich Eisen Show on how Mike Tomlin is with his players behind closed doors.

Via The Rich Eisen Show:

“He's great. He's had my back for a long time. We have a lot of informal conversations that are fun. He's a master of psychology,” Rudolph said of the Steelers coach. “We've all been on teams where the coaches are CEOs, and they kind of hang back in the shadows. He does a great job of connecting. He's asking you, ‘Hey, how's your brother doing in Hollywood? How's his acting?' He's just a master of psychology, as I said, and very personal with his players.”

Mike Tomlin has been known to truly connect to his players and in that way try to get the best out of them. It's part and parcel of the success he's brought to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have never had a losing season in each of Mike Tomlin's 15 years at the helm.
