Ben Roethlisberger's 2019 campaign ended after just two games due to an elbow injury, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is well on his way to making a full recovery.

As a matter of fact, he is already throwing to his teammates:

This is obviously huge news for a Steelers club that suffered through miserable quarterback play through most of this past season, as neither Mason Rudolph nor Devlin Hodges were able to fill the gaping hole left by Roethlisberger under center.

Pittsburgh sat at 8-5 at one point in 2019 and was in the driver's seat to snatch a surprising playoff spot in the AFC on the strength of its stingy defense. But the Steelers ended their season by losing three straight games and missed the postseason.

In the pair of contests that Roethlisberger played, the veteran completed 35 of his 62 passes for 351 yards and an interception.

The 38-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the Miami (Ohio) University, was originally selected by Pittsburgh with the 11th overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.

Roethlisberger made 13 starts during his rookie campaign and has been the Steelers' starting signal-caller ever since, making six Pro Bowl appearances and winning a pair of Super Bowl championships along the way.

In his most recent full season in 2018, Roethlisberger led the league with 5,129 passing yards to go along with 34 touchdowns while completing 67 percent of his throws and posting a passer rating of 96.5. However, he also paced the NFL with 16 interceptions.

The Steelers are looking to avoid missing the playoffs for the third straight year.
