Current Golden State Warriors head coach and Tim Duncan‘s former Spurs teammate Steve Kerr saw the greatness of The Big Fundamental first hand for four seasons in San Antonio.
Kerr has the utmost respect for Duncan and his “modest” style of handling business on and off the court, as he told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
However, while many believe the Big Fundamental is the greatest power forward to ever play the game, Kerr doesn't agree. Rather, he believes people have been viewing Duncan in the wrong position all along since he's not really a power forward at all:
“I think he's a center,”The only reason he's called a power forward is because he started his career playing next to David [Robinson], but once David left, Timmy was down on the block all the time. I mean, it's just semantics. … Regardless, he's certainly a top 10 player of all time. I think you can make that argument real easily.”
Kerr also tweeted this message to Duncan:

Congrats to Tim Duncan. Probably a top 5 all time player and undoubtedly a top 5 all time teammate. Wow, what a career.

The 2015 championship coach may have numbers to back up his claim as only half of Duncan's minutes were played only at the four spot between 2000-2004. In addition, from 2009-2014 he played entirely as a center. Last season, of the 1,536 minutes he played, only 15 were at power forward.
Regardless of what position he'll be considered, he will surely be Hall-of-Famer and is undoubtedly one of the best to ever play the game.
