The Phoenix Suns will be without superstar point guard Chris Paul on Monday when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The veteran is currently dealing with a hamstring issue and is set to miss his first game of the season.

This report comes via Duane Rankin of AZ Central:

This does not come as a complete surprise considering how Paul logged 33 minutes in Monday's hard-fought victory over the Boston Celtics. Paul has played in all of Phoenix's 22 games this season, and he was bound for a night off.

Paul has been surprisingly robust this term, and the Suns have been riding him hard especially over the past few games with Devin Booker out. Over the past five contests, CP3 has been averaging 21.6 points (on 53.4 percent shooting), 4.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.8 steals in 32.1 minutes of action. At 35, the 10-time All-Star is looking really good in Season 16.

It's also worth noting that the Suns have identified Paul's injury as nothing more than hamstring soreness. This sounds like a minor issue, which means that he will likely return to action sooner rather than later. The Suns take on the mighty Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, and we're thinking that Paul should be good to go for that marquee matchup.

The Suns gave up a significant number of assets to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the offseason to bring Paul to Phoenix, but right now, CP3 is proving that he's worth the haul. The Suns are making a push for the playoffs this season, and it goes without saying that Paul will play a key role in this objective.
