The Syracuse Orange entered Tuesday night's matchup against North Carolina with a chance at a strong, resume-building victory. In what turned out to be an exciting back and forth game, it game down to the final seconds. After Syracuse guard Judah Mintz was called for for back to back fouls, Jim Boeheim had some choice words for the referees.

“What do you mean? That's bulls***,” Boeheim said. “Just call the game, that's bulls***.”

Jim Boeheim and the Orange took a 68-66 lead with 1:28 remaining in the game. The score would remain the same until UNC sank a free throw with 19 seconds left. That's when things got crazy. Tar Heels' Pete Nance missed the second but found a way to get it back for an easy dunk, giving UNC a one-point lead.

Syracuse's Judah Mintz was then called for a flagrant foul after elbowing the defender on a drive to the basket. That was a very clear and obvious call. Caleb Love made one of two technicals, giving UNC a 70-68 lead. However, upon inbounding the ball, Mintz appeared to get shoved a good 10 feet and was somehow the one called for a foul.

That was what sent Boeheim into disbelief. Mintz fouled out and North Carolina would end up winning 72-68.

The Syracuse basketball program has hit a bit of a lull over the last few years. Rumors have swirled that Boeheim is nearing retirement. He has been the Syracuse head coach for 44 years and is 78 years old. However, the program has only missed the NCAA Tournament three times during his prestigious career. They are likely on the bubble as the final couple weeks of the regular season remain.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina basketball program has taken a big step back from nearly winning a National Championship last season.
