Kyle Kuzma hails Gregg Popovich as his ‘favorite coach of all time’
Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma is soaking in all of the knowledge that he can from his experience with Team USA, especially with coach Gregg Popovich serving as top general. Kuzma, in fact, hailed the legendary San Antonio Spurs mentor as his favorite coach of all time, per USAB.com:
He’s my favorite coach of all time. Growing up, I’m a hoops junkie, watching a lot of the Spurs teams and he’s won. He’s won at every level he’s been at. So, to be here and learn, to be around him, it’s really great.
Coach Pop has built a legacy of winning in San Antonio with five NBA championships to show for it. Moreover, the three-time NBA Coach of the Year has played a huge part of instilling the selfless, winning culture within the Spurs organization.
Getting the chance to dissect the mind of Gregg Popovich is certainly some valuable experience for Kuzma. For the the 22-year old forward to take in some snippets of the Popovich experience, this will definitely benefit him as he progresses in his career.
Kyle Kuzma went on record this past week saying that he can be the third star to form the Big Three in Los Angeles alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Kuzma certainly doesn’t lack in confidence, but he’s got a long way to go before he becomes a true established star in the NBA. Perhaps spending a few weeks under Popovich’s wing can take him to another level next season.
Kuzma played just under 10 minutes in Team USA’s friendly Blue vs. White scrimmage on Friday night. He finished with seven points and four rebounds.
