After a series of commanding victories in the previous rounds, Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka once again reigned supreme in the women's singles division of the Australian Open. Her latest triumph over American Jennifer Brady in the championship match on Saturday helped her to get back to the pinnacle of the tournament for the first time since 2019.

Although her win didn't come off as a surprise to anyone, countless tennis fans still lauded Naomi Osaka for her impressive showing in the tournament, especially after encountering a handful of ranked opponents along the way.

Perhaps Osaka's biggest win in the Australian Open came after she dealt an overwhelming upset to tennis icon Serena Williams. The two players matched up in the semi-finals round of the tournament where the Japanese national overcame her American counterpart by way of a 6-3, 6-4 victory to advance to the championship match.

Only two days after eliminating Williams, Naomi Osaka proceeded to match up against a capable opponent in Brady in the Australian Open Finals. The 23-year-old was able to overcome a slow start as she powered her way to a straight-set win by way of a 6-4, 6-3 decision. Her latest victory in the tournament helped her notch the second Australian Open title of her young playing career.

When asked what more is she aiming for after winning countless awards, Osaka responded with a humble remark.

“I feel like the biggest thing that I want to achieve is – this is going to sound really odd, but hopefully I play long enough to play a girl that said that I was once her favourite player,” she said via The Guardian.

After a huge performance in the Australian Open, greater things are expected of Naomi Osaka as her playing career progresses in the years to come.
