Novak Djokovic is arguably the best player in all of tennis today. The Serbian star has proven that to the world time and time again. His latest achievement saw him beat rival-turned-buddy Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon Finals to notch his seventh victory in the tournament.

His level of play recently only makes his imminent absence all the more frustrating. Novak Djokovic has long said that he wouldn't get vaccinated in order to participate in the US Open. Hours after his Finals match against Kyrgios, Djokovic echoed that same sentiment again. He said the only way he'd participate is if he was granted an exemption of some sorts.

“I'm not vaccinated and I'm not planning to get vaccinated so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter United States or exemption,” Djokovic said Sunday. “I don't know. I don't think exemption is realistically possible. If that is possibility, I don't know what exemption would be about.

Djokovic's vaccination status has caused quite the stir in the tennis world recently. Fans were divided into two factions: those that believed the star should suck it up and get the jab, and those that believed that those restrictions were unwarranted. Regardless, his decision to skip the US Open could potentially screw him of a chance at achieving greatness.

Should Djokovic give in and get the vaccine to play in the US Open? Or should he remain true to his word and skip it altogether?
