Roger Federer was smoked in straight sets by Hubert Hurkacz in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Wednesday, and now some are speculating if it's the last time we'll ever see Federer at Wimbledon.
Federer not only lost in three sets, but he lost 6-0 in the final set. It's the first time in his career he has ever lost a 6-0 set at Wimbledon. The Swiss legend got a standing ovation after his defeat:

A look at the replies to these tweets and a search of his name on Twitter will show plenty of people speculating about Roger Federer's future. Surely many in the crowd sensed that this could be it for Federer at Wimbledon, though nothing is set in stone and we very well could see him back next year. For what it's worth, he didn't dismiss the speculation after his loss.
Article Continues BelowHowever, Roger Federer has clearly slowed down after dealing with injuries and undergoing two knee surgeries. The 39-year-old last won Wimbledon in 2017 and hasn't won a Grand Slam since the Australian Open in 2018. He also recently pulled out of the French Open. He's stuck on 20 Grand Slam titles, which is tied for the most with Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic is hot on their heels with 19.
With Nadal and Djokovic real threats to pass Federer, perhaps he'll want to push ahead and play as long as he possibly can and try to win more Grand Slams. But nobody would blame him if he decides to hang it up soon. He has nothing left to prove and is one of the best of all time no matter what.
Salute to Roger Federer.
As for Hurkacz, this was quite the moment for him to destroy a living legend like this at Wimbledon. He's now on to the semifinals and is the second Polish man to get this far in a Grand Slam.
