Dead By Daylight (DBD)'s upcoming chapter, Dungeons and Dragons, will introduce The Lich Vecna, who brings with him various new perks, and some interesting powers. Yes, that is plural.

Dead By Daylight (DBD)'s New Killer: The Lich Vecna

Few dare speak The Lich's true name, for fear that he may hear — or worse.

The Lich Vecna is DBD's 36th killer, following The Unknown back in March. He becomes available to play in DBD on June 3, 2024. Excited players can, however, play as him right now on the Public Test Build (PTB).

He has a Movement Speed of 115%, or 4.6 m/s, a Terror Radius of 32 meters, and an Average Height. As is the case for all killers, The Lich Vecna brings with him three Perks, designed to give him information so that he can chase them easily.

Before we go into his perks, however, let's talk about The Lich Vecna's interesting power: Vile Darkness.

The Lich Vecna Power: Vile Darkness

The Lich Vecna's power, Vile Darkness, is unique in that it gives Vecna four powers: Mage Hand, Flight of the Damned, Dispelling Sphere, and Fly:

  • Mage Hand: Creates a magical hand that lifts a downed pallet or blocks an upright pallet for 4 seconds.
  • Flight of the Damned: Conjures 5 flying spectral entities that can pass through obstacles and injure Survivors.
  • Dispelling Sphere: Casts a moving invisible sphere that reveals Survivors and temporarily disables their Magic Items.
  • Fly: Gain a flying speed for a short period of time, allowing you to travel a long distance quickly and move over vaults and pallets.

When he holds his Secondary Power Button, Vecna enters Spell Selection, which allows him to select any of the four spells listed above. He can then use said power before it goes on a long cooldown. Each of his four spells has separate cooldowns.

As such, The Lich's playstyle revolves around properly utilizing said powers, switching between the four to quickly chase after Survivors, while also cutting off their escape options.

The Lich Vecna Perks

The Lich Vecna's perks in DBD are Weave Attunement, Languid Touch, and Dark Arrogance.

Weave Attunement

When any item becomes depleted for the first time each match, it is dropped. You see the auras of dropped items.
Survivors within 8 meters of dropped items have their auras revealed to you.
When a Survivor picks up a Survivor item, they suffer the Oblivious status effect for 20/25/30 seconds.

This perk is a situational perk designed to give The Lich Vecna information regarding the position of survivors. While it may seem useless at first, it is actually a good counter to Survivors that use Toolboxes to quickly repair the first Generator they see.

If the Survivor is not careful, they will drop their Toolbox, which will reveal their position to Vecna, allowing him to quickly go to the Survivor's position anywhere on the map. This also forces Survivors to make sure they don't accidentally deplete their items.

Languid Touch

When a Survivor within 36 meters of you scares a crow, they gain the Exhausted status effect for 6/8/10 seconds.
This perk has a 20-second cooldown.

Languid Touch is also a situation perk but is strong if the player knows how to maximize it. This is a good counter to perks like Sprint Burst, as it prevents the Survivor from activating it when they scare a crow.

A good killer will be able to drive the Survivor they are chasing into a crow on the map, which will scare it and activate Languid Touch. This will prevent them from suddenly speeding off with Sprint Burst, making it easier for The Lich to catch them.

Dark Arrogance

Increases the duration you are blinded and the duration of pallet stuns by 25%.
Increases regular vault speed by 16/18/20%.

While this may not seem like a good perk, thanks to the 25% increase in blind and stun durations, it's actually a pretty strong perk. A good Killer will be able to play well around flashlights and pallet stuns. As such, they will not be blinded or stunned, making the first part of the perk useless.

That leaves them with a vault speed increase that is very useful for chasing survivors, especially in map tiles with window loops like Killer Shacks or Jungle Gym. Of course, this takes some practice. However, it becomes a strong perk once the player gets used to it.

The Lich Vecna Special Items

When the player selects The Lich Vecna as their killer in DBD, special items will also spawn around the map. Players can find said special items, referred to as Magic Items, inside of Treasure Chests scattered throughout the map. These Magic Items can be either Botos or Gauntlets.

Players can each equip one pair of Boots and one pair of Gauntlets. These Boots and Gauntlets each have their own special effects, directly tied to one of The Lich's four Spells:

  • Boots/Gauntlets of the Interloper: The Survivor sees the aura of pallets affected by Mage Hand and gains Haste for 3 seconds.
  • Boots/Gauntlets of the Nightwatch: The Survivor can see the auras of the spectral entities conjured by Flight of the Damned.
  • Boots/Gauntlets of the Archivist: The Survivor can see the Dispelling Sphere.
  • Boots/Gauntlets of the Skyguard: The Survivor can see The Lich's aura during Fly and for a few seconds after.

Additionally, players also have the chance to discover two unique Special Items: The Hand of Vecna and The Eye of Vecna. These items give the player a Special Ability that they can use while at full health. Once they use the ability, however, they will go down one health state, and their location will be revealed for 3 seconds.

  • Hand of Vecna: When doing a Fast Locker Entry, the Survivor is teleported to a further locker.
  • Eye of Vecna: When doing a Fast Locker Exit, the Survivor cannot be seen by The Lich and gains Haste for 12 seconds.

It is important to note that these values are all from the game's PTB. It is possible that the values will be adjusted before release. Should there be any changes, we will be sure to let you know.
