Dead By Daylight (DBD) is celebrating its 8th anniversary, which introduces a new killer and survivors to the game via its DnD collab chapter, a brand new game, and even more.

DBD 8th Anniversary Celebration

Let's start with what is perhaps the biggest announcement for the 8th anniversary of DBD: its upcoming chapter collaboration with Dungeons and Dragons (DnD).

Dead By Daylight – Dungeons And Dragons Collab

This collaboration introduces a new killer to DBD in the form of The Lich: Vecna. Vecna is one of DND's iconic villains, and he will be bringing something new to the table in DBD. Additionally, new survivors will also be coming to the game, known as The Troupe.

The Troupe consists of bards Aestri Yazar and Baermar Uraz, which the player can freely switch between in the game's lobby. They will bring in even more interesting mechanics to the game, including what Bards to best: singing.

Other than a new Killer and Survivor, various DND staples, such as loot, magical items, dice, and even mimics will be making their way to DBD. This chapter is already available for players to test on the Public Test Build, so interested players should head on over to try it out.

2V8 Mode

The 8th anniversary of DBD also brings in a game mode that long-time fans and players have been asking for: a 2V8 mode. As the name implies, this new game mode involves 2 killers hunting down 8 survivors in maps that are much larger than those available right now.

Understandably, various gameplay adjustments will be introduced in the 2V8 mode to make things more exciting. For example, the game mode will use a system akin to a class system instead of the usual Perks. Additionally, the game mode will introduce Cages to the game instead of Hooks.

More information about this new game mode will become available in a live stream coming this July, so stay tuned for more details.

What The Fog

To celebrate DBD's 8th anniversary, a brand-new 2-person co-op roguelite game has just been released. The game, titled What The Fog, has the player take control of one of three survivors: Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min. Together, they must survive a hostile world, running, jumping, and shooting their way through enemies.

Similar to other roguelites, players can get upgrades that make their runs easier. When a player dies, they can continue to assist their teammate to survive until the end of the round, which will revive the dead player.

Additionally, players can get the game for free! Or at least, the first 2 million copies of the game are free. To get it, players will just need to sign in to their Behaviour Account (or make a new one) and follow the instructions on the site. Once the 2 million copies are gone, players can also get the game for $4.99

Project T

Other than What the Fog, another new upcoming DBD game just received an update. Codenamed Project T, this new game is a session-based PvE action-horror shooter set in the world of DBD. Additionally, the community can involve themselves in the game's creation.

Interested players can sign up for the Behaviour Insider Program to receive exclusive news, as well as the chance to take part in playtests for Project T, and even share ideas and feedback.

The Casting of Frank Stone

The Casting of Frank Stone also received a brand-new gameplay trailer. The game, developed in collaboration with Supermassive Games, revolves around a group of friends who find themselves trying to make their mark by creating the scariest horror movie ever.

What they end up filming, however, is more dangerous, and more sinister than they can ever imagine.

Much like other Supermassive Games, this game involves a branching narrative, with each choice that the player makes deciding what happens to the friends, and who gets to live or die.

More information about the game is available on the official website.

Castlevania Collab

The last, and perhaps most surprising, announcement for the DBD 8th anniversary is the announcement for an upcoming Castlevania collab chapter. Not much is known about the collaboration yet, other than what is shown in the trailer. We can, however, guess from what's in the video.

For starters, there will likely be a new map themed around Castlevania. There will likely be a castle, bats, and more. The killer for the chapter (if there is a new one) is also likely to be Dracula, and his power likely involves his ability to transform into bats.

As for the survivor (if there is a new one), we do not have any information yet. We will have to wait until August 6, 2024, for an update on what the chapter involves.

That's all the information we have about all of the DBD news announced during the game's 8th anniversary, including the DND collab, the new killer, and more.
