The Indiana Pacers have made their first trade this season, sending Caris LeVert to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Ricky Rubio and draft picks. Indiana could have a fire sale at the deadline, going the direction of what the Orlando Magic did last season, sending Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier, and Aaron Gordon off to contending teams.

The Pacers have already sent off LeVert with plenty of names still in trade rumors, including Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner.

Their veteran wings, Justin Holiday, Torrey Craig, and Jeremy Lamb, could also be dealt as a depth piece for contending teams. This week will be active for the Pacers as they make the decision on how to build for the future.

The next trade the Pacers must make after dealing Caris LeVert to the Cavs

Indiana Pacers receive: Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans, 2022 first round pick, and 2025 first round pick

Washington Wizards receive: Domantas Sabonis

This trade would send Sabonis to the Wizards, who are looking to convince star Bradley Beal to stay. Adding an All-Star in Sabonis will improve the team, and he would fit well alongside Beal.

Sabonis is averaging 19.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. His play would elevate the Wizards as they are currently 24-28 and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

This deal would give the Pacers a young player in Hachimura, Bertans, and draft capital. Bertans is in the deal to make the cap work and could be facilitated to a team down the line.

Hachimura could be a good forward for the future. He is averaging 7.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. While his numbers aren't great, going to a new team could maximize his potential.

While this may not seem like a great trade package, the draft picks will be valuable. When teams are heading into a rebuild, trading for young talent and draft picks is exactly what you want to do. This deal gives the Pacers both of those things and a potential trade chip in Bertans.

The Pacers could land a high draft pick and let the young players grow and develop. They could use this pick to bring in a cornerstone piece for the franchise. They could also then look to move their veteran players and Turner for a complete roster overhaul.

This would allow their young players like Chris Duarte to grow and shine. Duarte is in the midst of his rookie campaign and is averaging 13.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He is shooting 43% from the field and 35.9% from behind the arc.

Duarte is a great young guard, and bringing young pieces for him to play alongside would be beneficial towards their rebuild. He likely won't be the superstar of the team but seems to be a perfect fit at shooting guard in the modern NBA.

Indiana is bound to be active ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline. Teams have expressed great interest in the Pacers' players. While there may be a few tough seasons ahead as they rebuild, it will set them up for a brighter future. Sabonis should be the next piece to go as he will bring in the most value, which will give them a better idea of how to deal with the rest of their moves.
