The Witcher Blood Origin will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2022. There isn't an exact release date yet, but the six-episode mini-series will be coming up next year.
The Witcher Blood Origin will be set over a thousand years before the events of the main Netflix series. While the mini-series will explain a lot of vital information about the world's lore, it's an optional watching experience. Your enjoyment of the main series will be enhanced, but Blood Origin won't be a requirement to understand everything that's happening in the series.
In Blood Origin, Michelle Yeoh plays the sword elf Scian, the last of a tribe of sword elves who is on a sacred quest to retrieve a very important sword. Her story will greatly impact the fate of the Continent, and will lead to The Conjunction and the creation of the first Witchers. The series creator Andrzej Sapkowski serves as a consultant for the show, ensuring faithfulness to the source material.
