DC Comics' The Suicide Squad is back and they're better than ever. So let's jump right back in as we tackle the sweet sweet Easter Eggs found within the epic film. If you haven't watched the movie yet, MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW!

James Gunn has done it once again. Proving that no matter how problematic your past was, you could always make an epic comeback. Much like The Suicide Squad once Warner Bros. took it out of David Ayer's hands.

Kidding aside, the movie was absolutely fantastic. There were absolutely no dull moments and the cast was all amazing. There were, however, plenty of Easter Eggs to be found in the film. So let's break that down, shall we?

Wait, was that Mantis from GOTG?

Well… Yes. Sort of. Pom Klementieff, the actress behind the famous character did make a short appearance in the film. She can be seen as one of the dancers in the bar The Suicide Squad goes into to have a few drinks while waiting for Thinker.

Bloodsport vs. Superman

One of the few things that the film got right is Bloodsport's origin. When Amanda Waller introduces Robert DuBois in the film, she stated that: “He's in prison for putting Superman in the ICU with a Kryptonite bullet. ” This line was music to the ears of comic book nerds everywhere as it was very accurate and true to the comics.

The character of Robert DuBois (aka Bloodsport) dates back to 1987's “Superman” vol. 2 #4 and has since become a longtime adversary of Superman. Initially depicted in that post-Rambo time period as a Vietnam veteran, he was brought into the fold by Luthor, who recruited him to assassinate Supes after equipping him with a Punisher-like stash of weapons that included a gun which fired needles filled with kryptonite. After Bloodsport slaughtered dozens of people, Superman intervened — taking a Kryptonite bullet in the process, and requiring medical attention.

Pretty epic right? Maybe I'll try playing as Bloodsport in Fortnite once the Superman skin is out. It'll make shooting Supermen gliding around the map even more awesome.

Harley's “Harley Vision”

In one of the most badass scenes in the film, we get to see what production designer Beth Mickle called “Harley Vision.” This epic moment occurs as Harley fights her way out of the palatial manor all “Hit-Girl” style. As she does so, she sees animated birds, flowers, and hearts explode. It’s a cool visual experience but it's also a nice nod to her first-ever appearance in the beloved Batman: The Animated Series.

Why Harley Hates personalized License Plates

During the rooftop scene where Task Force X briefs the Thinker on how he should cooperate lest he dies, we hear Harley state, “If we find out you have personalized license plates, you die.”

That might just seem like a hilarious and wild quip from the Mistress of Mayhem. But it’s actually another slight to her annoying and villainous ex, the Joker. In the first Suicide Squad movie, we see that the Clown Prince of Crime's purple Lamborghini has corny personalized license plates that say “HaHaHa.”

Did Rick Flag really die?

Peacemaker murders Rick all Mortal Kombat Style. We know… It was tragic. What Peacemaker did was horrible. But while we cried our hearts out, we also realized this is a nod to the John Ostrander Suicide Squad series. In 1989’s Suicide Squad #26, readers were led to think that Flag was killed in Jotunheim. It’s a cool nod to the comics, even if later on Flag was revealed to actually be alive… (Insert Hawkeye's don't give us hope meme here)

Did you catch these Easter Eggs and references? Yeah, I bet you did you big nerd and if you didn't, well I suggest you read a little more comics and watch it again. It was a great superhero flick and James Gunn did a wonderful job.

The Suicide Squad is available in theatres and is streaming on HBO MAX.
