The Oklahoma City Thunder may have won their game on Sunday versus the San Antonio Spurs, but Paul George was still far from happy on the night. He cited the lack of calls he got, and the inconsistent way the game was officiated, which he believes contributed to his team only winning by a small margin.

The four-time All-Star initially did not want to talk about the officiating, and only discussed it after a follow up question was made. George then added during the post-game interview that the referees may have thought that they cannot call the “cheap fouls” on the Spurs players since they were already shorthanded.

“It’s hard. It’s hard, especially when the game is being called a certain way, and it’s just cheap fouls,” George said. “On the other end, I try to attack. [If] they gonna call it this way, I’m gonna see if I can pick up some of these cheap fouls that they’re giving and, no call. So, you kinda expect that. When everybody’s out for San Antonio, you really think they’re gonna put them in foul trouble? So, it is what it is.”

Despite the Spurs having a depleted lineup, playing without LaMarcus Aldridge, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard, Manu Ginobili, Pau Gasol sitting the entire second half and Kyle Anderson suffering a knee injury during the game, the Thunder were only able to squeak out a three-point victory. George struggled mightily from the field knocking down only 2-of-17 shots and finished with eight points, eight rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes.

George hopes his strong words could serve as a means to receive more calls in their favor in their coming games. With only a 10-12 record to show, the Thunder will need all the help they can get to finally turn around their season and live up to expectations of many that they are serious title contenders.
