Russell Westbrook is one of the best point guards in today's NBA, but he struggled with accuracy in the first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs. Simply put, a lot of his shots weren't falling in. As a result, he took a fair amount of criticism from fans and members of the media.

The Trail Blazers sent Westbrook and the Thunder home in five games. At times, Westbrook played well. However, there were also several games in which his shot was off.

In Game 1, Westbrook recorded a triple-double, scoring 24 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds — a solid outing, but the Thunder were defeated, 104-99. Game 2 was the beginning of Westbrook's struggles. In fact, he was only able to muster 14 points on 5-of-20 shooting from the field.

Game 3 was Westbrook's best outing. In 38 minutes of action, he racked up 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting (4-of-6 from beyond the arc), 11 assists and five rebounds, leading Oklahoma City to their only win of the series.

Westbrook was once again off the mark in Game 4, as he recorded just 14 points on 5-of-21 shooting and a plus/minus rating of -17. He had another triple-double in Game 5 (29 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists), but he went 11-of-31 from the field.

Sometimes, opposing teams will leave Russ open at certain spots on the floor, hoping that he will take an ill-advised shot. When asked about his process to deal with this strategy, Westbrook gave a simple reply:

“There's no process,” Westbrook told ESPN's Royce Young. “Shoot it. That's it.”

Westbrook's struggles in the first round could be accredited to Portland's defense, as well as Damian Lillard's breakout performances throughout the series. In the end, though, it sounds like Russ is going to keep shooting when given the chance.
