Russell Westbrook has proven time and again that he is one of the most dynamic players in league history, as the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar is set to finish with a triple-double average again this season.

Westbrook was a stat-sheet staffer again on Sunday night, racking up 27 points on top of 15 assists and 10 rebounds. It was the 32nd triple-double performance for Westbrook this season, which means that he now holds two of the top three most number of triple-doubles in a season.

The 30-year-old superstar moved over NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain on the list. Chamberlain had 31 triple-doubles during the 1967-68 season. Oscar Robertson is second on the list with 41 triple-doubles during the 1961-62 NBA season. Westbrook is on top of the elite list with 42 three seasons ago.

Westbrook will finish the regular season averaging triple-double for the third consecutive season. The former UCLA standout is averaging 22.9 points on top of 11.1 rebounds and 10.6 assists per game this season.

The Thunder are currently in a tight race for better positioning in the Western Conference playoff picture. With a 47-33 record, they are currently sitting seventh in the Western Conference but has a similar record to sixth-running Los Angeles Clippers.

Oklahoma City is just half-game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs, who are currently eighth in the Western Conference. Finishing eighth will likely mean an early showdown with the Golden State Warriors in the first-round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs, while ending up seventh will likely lead to a matchup with the Denver Nuggets.
