It's apparent that Carmelo Anthony's time in Oklahoma City is over. Now the question is where will he play next season? According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Thunder are working on trade scenarios that would ensure Melo lands in his preferred destination after clearing waivers.

Wojnarowski also reports that the Thunder have already been told that Anthony will waive his no-trade clause to ensure his departure from Oklahoma City.

Anthony's most likely landing spot still appears to be Houston. After the Rockets lost Trevor Ariza and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute to free agency, they have a need at the forward position.

Anthony has certainly regressed in recent years and he's no longer a superstar in the NBA. But he still gets treated as such. There is still a ton of respect for Anthony around the league and Oklahoma City working overtime to ensure that his departure goes smoothly is proof of that.

It also doesn't hurt that Anthony is under contract for a boatload of money next season and his no-trade clause makes the situation that much more difficult to navigate.

Regardless of where Anthony ends up next season, he's hoping to regain his form after a relatively tough season in Oklahoma City. For whatever reason, he didn't fit well in the Thunder's system.

Anthony has certainly lost a step on defense, but he can still knock down shots and in the right system he could excel at the four position.

It's still unclear how this situation will ultimately unfold, but both sides are working to bring an end to Anthony's tenure in Oklahoma City.
