After announcing his retirement last week, Tim Duncan has received a lot of congratulatory messages and well wishes after a splendid 19 year career, all with the San Antonio Spurs. And now, an entire day will be dedicated to his greatness in the only city he has played for in the NBA.
On Monday, Mayor Ivy R. Taylor of San Antonio announced that Thursday, July 21 will officially be recognized as “Tim Duncan Day.”

This is a great way to celebrate one of the true all-time basketball professionals. Duncan is known as a very modest and humble player despite all the success he had in his career. He did not have a farewell tour and simply opted to announce his retirement through the Spurs. He is considered by many as the best power forward to have played the game and has garnered five championships, 15 All-Star appearances, 15 All-NBA selections, three Finals MVP awards, two NBA MVPs, and did not miss the playoffs since his rookie year,
San Antonio truly has a lot to thank Tim Duncan for.
