After undergoing a season-ending hip surgery last February, Atlanta Hawks center Tiago Splitter said that he will be ready for the start of this year's training camp.

This is certainly good news for Hawks fans who expect a lot from their team this coming season.

According to Chris Vivlamore of Atlanta Jounal-Constitution, the 31-year-old Brazilian is already looking ahead to the NBA season after missing out on a chance to play for his home country in the Summer Games in Brazil:

With the addition of Atlanta-native Dwight Howard to the Hawks, Splitter is expected to come off the bench and provide quality minutes while relieving their starter. A lot of people think that it is a make or break season for the former 28th pick of the 2008 draft as the development of the team's other big man, Mike Muscala, is going faster than expected.

Splitter owns decent career averages of 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 19.8 minutes per game.

If the six-year NBA veteran proves that he can still be the player he once was before the injury, the Hawks will then have a decision to make on who to let go as a logjam in the frontcourt would be created. But only time can tell what condition Splitter will be in a month's time.
