Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has received a multitude of messages from players of today and legends of the past after reaching 3,000 career hits during the early Saturday home game against the Colorado Rockies. Among them, former Tigers starting pitcher and current Houston Astros hurler Justin Verlander took some time to send his congratulations to the future Baseball Hall of Fame first baseman for the historic feat.

“Miggy, what's up, congratulations on 3,000,” Verlander said in a recorded message. “That is just so incredible. I'm so happy for you and your family.

“And really, I just wanted to say that I'm so proud to be able to be your teammate for so long and see so many of those hits in so many clutch situations. What you have been able to accomplish is nothing short of amazing. Congratulations my friend.”

Verlander was teammates with Cabrera for 10 of his 13 seasons in Detroit. The two-time AL Cy Young Award winner had a front-row seat to watch Cabrera’s most prolific campaigns with the Tigers, which include his Triple Crown-winning season in 2012.

Verlander and Cabrera were not able to celebrate a World Series win during their run together in Detroit, although they did lead the way in the team's American League-winning run in 2012.

It is safe to say that the Tigers will go on to retire Cabrera and Verlander’s jerseys. More so, the two sure will go on to pick a Tigers cap for their Baseball Hall of Fame plaques.
