The Detroit Tigers have had a rough start to the 2022 MLB season, to say the least. They have the third-worst record in the American League at 24-39 through 63 games. This is the result of numerous factors and problems within the Tigers roster, from marital problems to Tommy John surgeries. However, it looks like help is on the way in the form of Riley Greene.

The Tigers tweeted the news Friday afternoon.

According to the tweet, the team is selecting Greene's contract on Saturday. While it's unclear, the move will likely take place before the Tigers' third game against the Texas Rangers Saturday afternoon.

Detroit is 0-1 in the series so far, the Thursday night loss extending the team's losing streak to five. Fortunately, Greene seems to be the perfect fit to get the Tigers' season on track. According to MLB Stats, the No. 2 prospect hit 30 home runs and 119 RBIs during his time in the minor leagues, recording a .292 batting average and .861 OPS.

Detroit drafted Greene fifth overall in the 2019 MLB Draft. Since then, the outfielder has played in the minor leagues, working his way up. Now, three years after he joined the franchise, Greene has the chance to change the fate of the Tigers' season. If he plays in game 3 of the series on Saturday, it will be Greene's MLB debut.
