Joey Votto is a character. In addition to mashing baseballs in Cincinnati for many years now, he is known for dressing up as a mountie for interviews, pranking fellow superstars, and sharing hilarious videos on Tiktok. But it was a recent creepy confession about Tigers' superstar Miguel Cabrera's pursuit of 3,000 hits that is currently stealing headlines.

Now that is some brutally honest praise from Votto. But the Reds first baseman is probably not the only one who has binge-watched Cabrera's at-bats over the years.

Miguel Cabrera is on the fast track to the Hall-of-Fame. He has already clubbed over 500 home runs and drove in over 1,800 runs in his career. Additionally, Cabrera's career slash line as of this story's publication reads as follows: .310/.387/.532. Cabrera is going to likely be a first ballot Hall-of-Famer. He is also currently at 2,996 hits. Although Cabrera is going to be in Cooperstown already, 3,000 hits guarantees that you will be selected for the Hall-of-Fame (the obvious exceptions are the players linked to steroids who have not yet been elected).

He could possibly get his 3,000th hit within the Tigers' next couple of games. And Joey Votto will surely be watching.

Miguel Cabrera commented on his mindset as he approaches the historic milestone.

“I'm just trying to focus on every at-bat, every pitch. Just don't try to put pressure on myself and go from there. Just go out and make something happen. I try to go out there and play my best baseball. I know there's a lot of pressure. I know there's a lot of eyes on me. But at the same time, I'm in a good position right now. I'm happy to be here. Hopefully we can win more games. I think that's more important.”

Cabrera is in a great position to get the job done at Comerica Park. The Tigers began a six game home stand on Tuesday, so Cabrera will have until Sunday to get four hits before Detroit hits the road.
