Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Andrew Wiggins has passed Sam Mitchell for second place on the Timberwolves' all-time scoring list.

Sam Mitchell scored 7,161 points as a member of the Timberwolves. Andrew Wiggins entered Friday with 7,157 career points.

The former No. 1 overall pick passed Mitchell in the first quarter at home against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Wiggins with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of the University of Kansas. The Cavs then traded Wiggins to the Timberwolves in the Kevin Love trade.

Entering Friday, Wiggins had career averages of 19.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor, 33.2 percent from beyond the arc and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line. The most points Wiggins has scored in a game is 47. He did that back in the 2016-17 season against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Scoring has never been an issue for Wiggins. He is incredibly gifted and has nuclear athleticism. It's his lack of engagement and defensive awareness every game that frustrate the fans in Minnesota. Wiggins is always leaving you wanting more because of how much talent he has. The swingman just hasn't been able to put it all together yet.

Wiggins signed a lucrative five-year, $147.7 million maximum contract with Minnesota in the summer of 2017.
