Despite the recent smoke emanating from a rough offseason for the Minnesota Timberwolves, swingman Andrew Wiggins argues he has never had a problem with mercurial star Jimmy Butler during his short tenure with the team.

“We’ve never had any major problems. No problems at all,” Wiggins said, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “Even when everyone said all that stuff happened in practice, nothing had to do with me. I was just there hooping.

“But everyone has something to say. Once it’s out there, then everyone has their own opinion. The story gets broken down into 1,000 pieces. But at the end of the day, we’re all here to hoop. It’s always a plus to have Jimmy on the team.”

Wiggins was recently called out by former NBA player and current analyst Stephen Jackson after his brother Nick had retweeted the news of Butler's trade request, adding “finally!” to the retweet caption.

In an Instagram video, Jackson argued Wiggins shouldn't be happy about the trade request, given that Butler is the heart and engine of his team.

Butler has ruffled feathers in the front office and locker room with his confrontational style, and it wouldn't be surprising if Wiggins has been among those offended by his  blunt approach to basketball.

Internally, the Timberwolves are reportedly disappointed with Wiggin's development after doling out a max contract extension last summer, which has kicked in this season. Minnesota's brass has already started to wonder if Wiggins' ceiling is only that of an inefficient scorer — having failed to round out his game during his first four seasons in the league.
