Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler has confirmed that his meeting with head coach Tom Thibodeau will be on Tuesday.

Butler himself shared the news via Twitter, while also noting the false information that spread a few days prior.

Along with his agent Bernie Lee, Butler will discuss his future with the Timberwolves franchise. When Butler was traded to Minnesota, much was expected from the team. After all, Butler joined a young core group comprised of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. And the appointment of Thibodeau — highly-regarded as one of the best coaches in the NBA, who also happens to be his former coach — pretty much sealed the future for the team.

But things didn't work out as expected. The Timberwolves struggled last season and finished eighth in the Western Conference. On top of this, rumors circulated that Butler and Wiggins weren't seeing eye to eye. Though the team denied such rumors, one thing was certain: the team need a solution to their woes. And they need it now as the West has gotten a lot more competitive than ever.

This is an important meeting for both parties. For one, this season will be a contract year for Butler and he'll be a free agent come July. Apart from Butler, Towns — whom they offered a max rookie extension in July — has yet to agree to the deal. Analysts believe that Towns is carefully gauging the Butler situation before making the decision whether to ink the contract or not.
