Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jordan Bell is ready for more defensive responsibility in his new home.

In an interview with Basketball Insiders, Bell claimed that he would like to be the defensive focal point for Minnesota.

“Just to make everybody else around me better. I know obviously Karl and [Andrew] Wiggins are the focal points as far as scoring and things like that. They let them control the offensive side, and then me try to control the defensive side,” Bell told Basketball Insiders. “And just bring out everything I learned from Draymond [Green], KD, Andre [Iguodala], everything I learned my two years from winning a championship. I’ll try to bring that over here. I think we have a special group, we can do something special this year.”

Bell has always been a solid interior defender. Over three years with the University of Oregon, the big man had a career average of 2.2 blocks per game. Over two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, he averaged nearly one block a game over 125 matchups.

Bell got a chance to learn from some of the best defenders in the game while playing in the Bay Area. Two years of playing alongside Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala certainly sharpened both his perimeter defense and basketball IQ.

Now, Timberwolves fans will get a chance to see if he brings this improved defensive presence to Minnesota.
