Karl-Anthony Towns downplayed the importance of a wrapped left hand following a rough 117-109 loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.

Despite yet another double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, Towns refused to make a big deal of coming out of the locker room with his off-hand in wraps.

“Don't worry about me,” said the 22-year-old, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “I'm old.”

The Timberwolves just didn't have enough firepower against a scarily-balanced Celtics team, despite a huge 30-point, 12-rebound double-double from Nemanja Bjelica, who also dropped six 3-pointers on the night.

Minnesota has managed to hold onto the sixth spot in the West, even after dropping three straight games. Yet head coach Tom Thibodeau always has found the reason to teach, even at the darkest of moments.

“We have great energy on offense and we’ve got to get out of the habit of resting on defense,” said Thibodeau. “We can’t afford to play cool. We have to play with a tenacity on every play.”

The Timberwolves can't afford another player down, even after signing Derrick Rose to make up for the loss of Jimmy Butler. Losing Towns to a hand problem could result in this team easily sliding down the standings and potentially costing them a playoff spot — missing two of their top scorers.

Minnesota will have a much better chance to bounce back against the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Sunday after Stephen Curry sits out the rest of this week to rest an ankle injury.
