Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is fighting through the pain he experienced these past few months, and he's using it as motivation to move forward no matter what the situation is.
After leading the Timberwolves to a 111-101 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, Towns spoke to the media and discussed how he feels getting back on the court after everything that happened to him. In a rather heartbreaking statement, KAT shared how his old self died last April and how he is taking his losses as a fuel in his life.

To recall, last April 13, the Timberwolves star lost his mother, Jacqueline Cruz, because of COVID-19 complications. Towns' mother was in a medically-induced coma before that due to the dreaded virus, and unfortunately, she didn't make it.

However, aside from his mother, the Timberwolves big man revealed earlier this December that six other family members also succumbed to COVID-19.
It's truly hard to imagine what Towns is feeling right now after the devastating losses he had to endure throughout 2020. While he remains committed to the Timberwolves–as proven by his 22-point, 11-rebound and 7-assist outing on Wednesday–it can be said that basketball is the last thing in his mind.
Besides, with the COVID-19 pandemic still present as the NBA navigates through the threats of the crisis, KAT knows his battle is far from over.
