Coming into the 2020-21 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were facing a delicate situation with Malik Beasley. He has been involved in a variety of offseason incidents, while the ones of utmost importance landed him in court.

While his future in the NBA started to look a bit murky for a while, it appears that the 24-year-old guard will be in the clear for the foreseeable future thanks to a strong legal team. As reported by The Athletic‘s Sham Charania, Malik Beasley entered a guilty plea on Monday for threats of violence, but his drug charges were ultimately dismissed:

As noted by Charania, Malik Beasley won't begin any jail sentencing or home arrest sentencing until the 2020-21 season has concluded, while also noting that his sentencing won't go beyond 120 days.

Malik Beasley recently signed a four-year, $60 million deal in November to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves after being traded in February by the Denver Nuggets. Even so, all of Beasley's legal and public issues seemed to swarm about the time of his signing.

While fighting off the current charges that have been resolved, Beasley's marital life took a turn down a dead end street after pictures surfaced of the 6-foot-4 guard being seen out in public with Larsa Pippen–Scottie Pippen's ex wife. The rumors didn't stop from their, leaving the less-thought of question in terms of his future with the Timberwolves franchise.

In the aftermath, the Timberwolves are surely grateful that they'll be able to keep Malik Beasley for the upcoming season as the squad plans to make a deep playoff run spearheaded by Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell.

The Timberwolves and Malik Beasley will have to deal with a deep and formidable Western Conference. The Los Angeles teams, the Nuggets, Jazz, and Mavericks all look like certain playoff teams, meaning that Minnesota is likely to battle the Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, Suns, Spurs, and Kings for one of the three remaining playoff berths.
