Allen Crabbe's tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves didn't last long. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the team has decided to waive the 27-year-old shooting guard prior to the playoff eligibility deadline of March 1.

Crabbe will now be eligible to be picked up by any team hoping to use him for the postseason.

The former second-round pick of the Portland Trail Blazers was acquired by Minnesota in the trade-deadline deal that sent former Atlanta Hawks point guard back to Atlanta.

In nine games with the Timberwolves, the 6-foot-5 guard played 14.6 minutes per game averaging 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting just 32.4 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from deep. Crabbe had been inactive for Minnesota's last four games.

The Timberwolves were Crabbe's fourth team in the last four seasons after playing for Atlanta, the Brooklyn Nets and the Portland Trail Blazers previously in his career.

While Crabbe had undoubtedly struggled with the Timberwolves, the seven-year veteran has career averages of 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while also being a career 38.7 percent shooter from beyond the three-point arc. That shooting touch would undoubtedly come in handy for any number of playoff teams.

With Crabbe no longer on the team, Minnesota will likely give more minutes to guards like Malik Beasley, Josh Okogie, Jarrett Culver and Jaylen Nowell as well as newly acquired star D'Angelo Russell. Their playoff hopes are all but nonexistent for this season, so the rest of the year will be about building for next year.
