The 2018 NFL season ended almost as quickly as it started for Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker. It seems the Titans will be taking a cautious approach with his recovery this offseason.
Walker suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the opener versus the Miami Dolphins last year. According to John Glennon of The Athletic, Tennessee still has yet to determine a timetable for his return:
Titans' Delanie Walker: No timetable for full health yet.
This is certainly not the most encouraging update for Walker. He has had plenty of time to get back to full health. The fact that he is still unable to warrant a potential return can be viewed as a cause for concern in Tennessee.
Of course, the Titans could very well just be taking every precaution they can to ensure Walker is healthy for the start of the 2019 NFL season.
The 34-year-old signed a two-year extension last offseason worth up to $17 million. Perhaps Tennessee does not feel as inclined to hurry a player of his veteran status back sooner than necessary.
Walker has proven that he is more than capable of stepping in and making an immediate impact.
Prior to last season, he had been selected to three straight Pro Bowls while serving as a safety net for quarterback Marcus Mariota. There is no question is presence was heavily missed by the Titans offense last year.
It appears they will be doing everything they can to ensure that Walker is 100 percent healthy before setting a timetable for his return.
