The Tennessee Titans didn't have a great season last year as they finished in last place in the AFC South. The Titans had a 6-11 record. Mike Vrabel was the head coach of that team, but he was let go after the season. He spent six seasons with Tennessee and he won the division twice. He finished with an overall record of 54-45 and had a 2-3 record in the playoffs. Titans GM Ran Carthon recently opened up about the decision to fire Vrabel, and he revealed that it was very tough on his kids.

Both of Ran Carthon's kids like Mike Vrabel a lot. In fact, his daughter's screen saver is a photo of her and Vrabel. When Carthon relieved Vrabel of his Titans head coaching duties, his kids were upset.

“When it happened I called my wife and I was like ‘hey this just happened' and the first thing my wife says is ‘you know you need to call Ria' which is my daughter, and I'm like ‘why?' She was like ‘because she doesn't need to hear that coach got fired from one of the kids in school,'” Carthon said during an appearance on Bussin With The Boys. “You know because my kids don't have social media. And so my daughter had a really close relationship with Mike, and if you look on her screen saver on her phone right now it's a picture of her and Mike, and that hasn't changed.”

Carthon's son was upset when he heard the news as well. His son is seven, and he thinks that he knows what the right call is when it comes to decisions for the Titans. He wasn't happy when he found out that Vrabel was fired.

“Not only to have that happen to him, but to now I got to communicate this to my daughter,” Carthon said. “And then have my, he's now seven-year-old son, who he thinks he's the GM, and the owner, and the head coach, he legitimately, when he got out of school my wife told him and he was like, ‘what are you doing?' Like my son said this to me, you know what I mean, and so it was tough.”

Mike Vrabel is now with the Cleveland Browns

Mike Vrabel is no longer with the Titans, and it was a tough decision for Ran Carthon to let him go. His kids were clearly upset about it. However, Vrabel was able to find another job as he is now with the Browns. He is not the head coach, but he is a coaching and personnel consultant.

Last year wasn't great for the Titans, but Vrabel did have some success as the head coach in Tennessee. Now, Brian Callahan is the head coach of the Titans, and fans are hoping that he can bring them back to the playoffs.
