Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady might be the greatest football player to ever don shoulder pads, but even he admits he is not the most talented athlete in the family.

Brady shouted out his niece, Maya Brady, who stars for the UCLA women's softball team. The seven-time Super Bowl champion called Maya the “most dominant athlete in the Brady family… by far!”

Fittingly, Maya is the eldest daughter of Maureen Brady, one of three Brady sisters who was a star pitcher for the Fresno State women's softball team. Maureen even racked up an NCAA-best 26 wins in her junior season. Looks like Tom Brady wasn't the only great athlete growing up, either.

Maya appears destined for her own greatness. She was named the 2020 Softball America Freshman Player of the Year after hitting .356 with a .699 slugging percentage in the pandemic-shortened season.

But Brady showed she could excel beyond the college level even prior to her freshman season. She homered off Olympian pitcher Ally Carda during an exhibition against Team USA last February.

Needless to say, some of the athletic excellence in the Brady gene pool has been passed down to Maya. One of her other uncles is Kevin Youkilis, a former All-Star first baseman with the Boston Red Sox, who is married to one of Tom Brady's sisters.

Maya should have the opportunity to win just as much as her more famous uncles, as well. The Bruins won the 2019 Women's College World Series, and might be the most dominant softball program in America. They had been No. 1 in the polls before a Feb. 28 loss to Oregon saw them drop to No. 4.

Tom Brady had previously lauded Maya's athletic prowess. He made sure to remind his followers to keep an eye on the “most dominant” athlete in the family on Sunday.
