Apparently, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk has sold his soul to canned-water startup Liquid Death.
Already an investor and ambassador for the brand, Birdman took it to another level by quite literally shedding blood for the company. Hawk gave two vials of blood that Liquid Death then mixed into the paint used to create the limited-edition custom decks it sold.
There were only 100 boards created with the blood-infused paint. The advertisement on the Liquid Death website also highlighted that “every deck contains 100% Tony Hawk DNA.”
For the skeptics who don't believe that they could own a skateboard infused with Hawk's blood, Liquid Death provided a video of the whole process:

As bizarre as it may seem, the marketing ploy certainly worked. According to an ESPN report, the boards were sold out in just 20 minutes despite the fact that it cost $500 each. The limited supply certainly made it appealing for the diehard fans–after all, let's be honest, how many boards can they make with Hawk's blood in it?
It's for a good cause, though, as Liquid Death confirmed that 10 percent of the profits will go to efforts in killing plastic pollution and building more skateparks in underserved communities.
Plus, the 100 lucky people can now proudly say they own Tony Hawk's blood–no matter how strange that may sound.
