Tony Parker recently spoke with reporters to share his thoughts on the San Antonio Spurs after Tim Duncan's retirement. He believes they are still a great team:

“Obviously, we are going to miss him a lot,” the veteran point guard said of Duncan. “You can’t replace a guy like Timmy. But we will try to do our best to keep the Spurs going and to keep winning.”

Parker said he is still adjusting to losing Duncan to retirement, and acknowledged that his presence made the Spurs work as a unit.

“He was the greatest power forward of all time and he made my job easy every night,” Parker said.

Parke,r along with Ginobili, are the two elder statesmen left on the team, and they have to adjust to new roles as the leaders that everyone else looks to for guidance.

“I’m just going to try to be a good leader and welcome all the new guys and try to help them as much as I can and just show them the Spurs culture and what we do here,” Parker said.

With Duncan retiring and Parker's French National team and Spurs teammate Boris Diaw traded, the Spurs have looked to fill the voids with new talent. Pau Gasol is one player Parker respects and feels will work with the team.

“I think he’s a perfect fit for our team,” Parker said of Gasol.

Other youngsters such as Dejounte Murray, sharpshooter Davis Bertans,  Dewayne Dedmon, and another french teammate Livio Jean-Charles, will make the dynamic of the team much different than before.

“I think it’s going to be a lot different because we have a lot of young guys, so it’s going to take us some time for us to jell,” Parker said. “But they are great basketball players and they have some knowledge and they know how to play. Hopefully, they can get it fast and we can have another great season.”

If anyone can make it work, the Spurs are the perfect team for it.
