Damian Lillard has been on a shooting slump through the first four games of the 2020-21 season. The six-time All-Star, known for erupting for huge scoring nights, has not even scored over 20 points yet. His frigid shooting numbers— only 24 made field goals in 72 total attempts — haven't at all doomed the Portland Trail Blazers, who are 2-2 so far, but the lack of production is surprising coming from one of the NBA's most dangerous scorers.

Lillard had some choice words for a tweet that highlighted his early-season struggles, reminding everyone that he has built a reputation as one of the league's best scorers.

Indeed, Lillard has long been established as one of the best bucket getters in basketball since his arrival to the NBA in 2013. He has yet to have a full season averaging less than 19 points per game and, among active players, averages more points per game over his career than every player besides Kevin Durant, LeBron James and James Harden. The only active players with more made more 3-pointers than Dame are Stephen Curry and Harden.

Lillard's accolades — six All-Star nominations, six All-NBA Team nominations and a Rookie of the Year award, speak for themselves. Since his rookie season, he has led the Trail Blazers to the playoffs every season.

Starting a season in a slump is new for Lillard, who has usually found himself in midseason form right away. It's nothing that should seriously concern Portland or their fans, though. Dame remains focused on leading the Trail Blazers back to the postseason. They recently defeated the reigning Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns by 29.

Lillard's next shot to break out of this slump is Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
