The Miami Dolphins seemed to have embraced the recent promotion of rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as the team's new starter moving forward. The level of excitement was different in the locker room this time around as the players are ecstatic to have a youthful presence under center, as per The Miami Herald.

Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams spoke on what Tagovailoa does best:

“Obviously throwing, making plays, everything you want in a quarterback. Y’all seen his tape, that speaks for itself. We’re excited that Tua is getting a start just like everybody else I’m excited to see him in his first game action versus the Rams.”

Veteran defensive end Shaq Lawson also shared his pieces of advice to Miami's 22-year-old playmaker ahead of his first game as a starter:

“They don’t draft a quarterback in the first round for no reason. The guys are the future of the program. … I’m just telling [Tagovailoa], work hard and continue to work better. We’re going to follow your lead. Embrace every moment of it Been seeing him, he’s been doing that every day. He’s a guy that always has a smile on his face, great kid. He always wants to talk to vets and learn new things. He learned a lot, he likes to learn too.”

With his teammates in full support ahead of his debut game as the Dolphins' new QB1, Tagovailoa aims to overcome the jitters and play his part to extend their win streak to three-straight victories. Having a mentor in a tenured veteran like Ryan Fitzpatrick will certainly help his development as the season progresses.

The Dolphins now find themselves with a surprising 3-3 record and will aim to improve even more with Tagovailoa now at the helm. The Hawaiian native will make his first start for head coach Brian Flores in their Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
